Blue (Monarch)

I've been working on a few variations of this piece in Illustrator, trying out different colour combinations, this one worked the best for me -and Liz liked it too.

Cumberland House, U of T: Process Work

I've started a large-scale acrylic painting of the Cumberland House at U of T. It's such a strange and wonderful building with lots of history and two beautiful rows of trees in front (that I'm still working out). The trees are dark and contrast well against the yellow brick of the architecture. The interweaving patterns of the branches will be great to paint- but will take lots of work.

I'm working in bright yellows and blues- almost finished the house, and can't wait to get started on the trees.

The building currently serves as U of T's Centre for International Experience and is always busy with people. The foliage of the trees covers up the building in the summer months, so it's best seen through the fall and winter. Here's the location. More to come soon...

Faster than lightning!

This week has suddenly become very busy! But last week was crawling, so I had more time for art.

The sketches:

Finished image:

I thought I should try to join the other artists of the world in this gleaming new machine age, so I put away the paints and crayons. Not a huge fan of doing work with the track pad, but that's what I had available.

What say you?

Grateful Dead Poster Contest

This is my entry for a poster design contest for an upcoming online Grateful Dead game:

The poster commemorates one of the top fan-favourite shows of all time. Here's the show. I've listened to it many times, so it was alot of fun to work on this project.

The winning design will be featured in the game, sold as a print and used as inspiration for other design elements of the game.
