St.Vigeans



Here's a sketch I've been working on this week. The beautiful little church of St. Vigeans is just outside Arbroath on the east coast of Scotland.

Last summer I was visiting relatives and my aunt and I were lucky enough to get the key to the church so we could explore.

This is one of the richest sites of Pict stone carvings, and there is a museum dedicated to the work at the foot of the hill. The site itself dates back to ancient Pictish times, before Christianity, and people have been coming here ever since.

I'm thinking of trying out some coloured versions...
